President Obama Nominates GSU Alumna for U.S. Attorney post

Stephanie Ann Finley has been nominated by President Barack Obama to serve as U.S. Attorney for Louisiana's western district.

Finley was nominated on January 20 to take over as the head federal prosecutor for a district that includes Lafayette and Shreveport. She is set to replace Donald Washington, who recently resigned. Finley's nomination must be confirmed by the Senate.

A 1988 graduate of GSU, Finley has been an assistant U.S. Attorney in the western district since 1995. Before that, she was an assistant staff judge advocate in the U.S. Air Force.

The Pineville native earned her law degree in 1991 from Southern University Law Center.
