GSU alumnus establishes a $100,000 endowed professorship

GSU alumnus Kerry Briggs has established a $100,000 endowed professorship in honor of the memory of his professor, Mr. Clayton A. Wiley and the late educator's wife, Ms. Viola E. Wiley who still lives in Grambling. The professorship is in the Department of Engineering Technology. The Louisiana Board of Regents established the Endowed Professorhsip program in the early 90's as a means of expanding the opportunities for faculty enhancement on diverse tpyes of campuses. The program guarantees Support Fund assistance to annually fund two (2) $100,000 professorships per year per campus for four year campuses. Briggs' initial gift of $60,000 will be matched by $40,000 from the Board of Regents. 

A 1979 graduate, he received a bachelor of science degree in Industrial Technology. A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, Briggs, his wife Glenda and daughter Kaylon reside in Houston. He is the CEO and President of Briggs Field Services, Inc. a right of way acquisition company he founded in 1992.
