Miechelle Willis
Miechelle Willis is in her 13th year at The Ohio State University. As an associate athletics director beginning in 1994, she served as the sport administrator for 12 varsity sports. In February 2006, Willis was promoted to senior associate athletics director for student services and sport administration. In this role she oversees the sport administration of 35 of the 36 varsity sports, the compliance and camp office, strength and conditioning, medical services and is the liaison with the academic services office. She also serves as Ohio State's senior woman administrator to the NCAA and the Big Ten Conference.
Prior to joining the staff at Ohio State, Willis spent seven years at Temple University in Philadelphia. At Temple, she was the primary administrator for 11 women's varsity sports and was responsible for compliance, drug and alcohol education and student-athlete services.
Her professional experience also includes stints at Montclair State College (1978-87) as the women's track and cross country coach and she also served as a member of the 69AES United States Air Force Reserves as an aeromedical evacuation technician (1983-89).
As a student-athlete, Willis was a standout pentathlete at Grambling State University, where she graduated cum laude in 1976 with a degree in health and physical education. Willis earned her master's degree in sports administration from her alma mater in 1978 and had been pursuing her doctorate at Temple prior to her departure.
Willis serves on the Big Ten Legislative Review Committee and was appointed to the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Discussion Group, formed by NCAA President, Myles Brand. As a Big Ten representative to the NCAA Division I Management Council, she also serves on the Administrative Review Subcommittee to the Cabinet.
Willis served as the department of athletics' liaison for the Larkins Hall Replacement Project. The 600,000 square foot Recreation and Physical Activity Center (RPAC) houses the Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatics Pavilion, a state of the arts aquatic facility that serves as the home of Ohio State's aquatic sports and the host site for the 2008 NCAA Women's Swimming National Championships.
Willis is a 2009 NAFEO Distinguished Alumni.
